WIVU Database of the Hebrew Bible

Created by Professor Eep Talstra and his WIVU team, this database holds the complete text of the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament in the original languages of Classical Hebrew and Aramaic), with low and high level linguistic tagging. WIVU stands for the Werkgroep Informatica, the Department of Biblical Studies and Computer Science at the Faculty of Theology, Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam.

Searching

The database can be searched using MQL queries through the Emdros search engine, developed by Ulrik Petersen, Aalborg, Denmark.

Access

Access to the database is limited, due to copyright restrictions. Please fill in the application form below to apply for a user account. You will be notified on your email address as soon as WIVU has decided on your request. Access rights are to be renewed after a period of 2 years.

SESB

A CD-ROM version of the WIVU database is available as part of the Stuttgart Electronic Study Bible (SESB), published by Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft and Nederlands Bijbelgenootschap, and produced by Logos Research Systems Inc.
